The Rural Initiative Center

HOW IT HELPS ...

The Center can be a friendly and objective listener in the discussion and early planning of new ventures.  Sometimes, in rural communities, there may be "no one to talk to."  Encouragement and support can often be as important as technical information.

The Rural Initiative Center seeks to provide direct, one-on-one help.  Requests for help will result in a personal contact or a visit from a Center staff person or an experienced volunteer.  The person requesting help should plan to describe the proposed business idea or activity and the kind of help needed.

Frequently, persons who have a salable product or service need help through the entire process of determining commercial feasibility, business planning and organization, production and marketing.  The Center may supply a range of information, contacts with expert advisors, technicians or other specialists who can provide expertise and varied services.  The Center may continue to provide help through various stages of development of a business as needed.  The help provided by the Center is generally limited to advisory and consultative services.

The general procedure is followed to provide services to organizations and communities, in the support of activities for economic development in their areas.
