The Rural Initiative Center

WHAT IT IS ...

The Rural Initiative Center is a private, non-profit agency, which seeks to increase farm, ranch and small town family income in South Dakota. The Center provides information, technical assistance and consultative services to rural people to help them to create new or expand existing small businesses.  The Center encourages diversity in new ideas and methods in all types of small business, including specialized agricultural production, processing and marketing, which will result in value-added products or needed services.

The Rural Initiative Center is an integral service of The Association of Christian Churches of South Dakota, which is supported by ten major church denominations whose combined memberships include a majority of the state's population.  The Association provides basic support for the Center.  Additional financial support is sought from foundations, public agencies, corporations and other groups.
