Camps & Retreat Centers Welcome You
With Christian Hospitality
Dakotas United Methodist Camps offer all denominations the opportunity to relax, work, or learn at one of their camps or retreat centers. Our facilities welcome your spiritual gatherings, staff trainings, board retreats, youth outings, family reunions, and special events. Our newest facility is the Living Waters Retreat Center, which opened during the spring of 2001. It is located 13 miles north of Arlington, on the southern shore of Lake Poinsett in the heart of South Dakota's Glacial Lakes Region. It features lake front accommodations, private guest suites, handicap accessible suites, conference room to accommodate 80-100 people, executive conference room, lounge/living room with fireplace, dining room, and recreational game room. It is conveniently located adjacent to the United Methodist Camp and State Recreation Area. Site Director, Thom Bowsher welcomes you to contact him at (605) 983-3343. Thom also manages the Lake Poinsett Camp, which overlooks 8,000 acres of water with breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. This campus-style facility with individual sleeping cabins and program cabins offers a great setting for waterfront recreation. Water sports including swimming, canoeing, sailing, boating, and fishing are popular. The Main Lodge and Dining Center will host 180+. A beautiful Chapel is also located on the property, which seats 300+. Alive with the awesome beauty of the Black Hills National Forest, Storm Mountain Center is 12 miles from Rapid City and a short drive from Mount Rushmore. It is a large multi-style summer camp and year-round retreat center situated along Spring Creek. Participants have the opportunity to hike historic trails and explore gold mines. Trout fishing, swimming/tubing, mountain biking, rock climbing, and snow skiing are popular activities. Lodging consists of modern cabins, primitive cabins, Allison Hall lodge rooms, space available bed and breakfast, and outdoor camping areas. Allison Hall/Retreat Lodge hosts 175+. Contact Scott Jensen, Site Director at (605) 343-4391 for reservations. Wesley Acres is located in the Bald Hill Creek Valley, 20 miles north of Valley City, North Dakota. This peaceful natural environment provides a fully staffed camp for summer and winter retreats. The dorm-style cabins compliment recreational activities including a heated swimming pool, canoeing, and paddle boating. Attendees enjoy horseshoe pits, basketball, volleyball, and 4-square courts. Winter recreation includes sledding and cross-country skiing. The Log Chapel/Retreat Center and Dining Center hosts 150 people.
